Florida couple killed in motorcycle accident

The Cocoa couple was out for a Sunday afternoon ride when their lives were taken from them in an instant.

The 55-year-old man and his 55-year-old wife were rolling down U.S. 192 in Osceola County when a pickup truck pulled out in front of them. The motorcyclists were killed in the ensuing accident.

The 22-year-old driver of the truck had been stopped at an intersection before she pulled away from the stop sign, turning her vehicle directly into the path of the motorcycle. She was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

Did the pickup driver simply fail to look carefully enough before driving away from the stop sign? Did she misjudge the speed of the motorcycle and believe she could safely negotiate the turn before the cycle arrived? We don’t know.

What we do know is that one of the primary causes of motorcycle accidents is the failure of drivers of cars, pickups, SUVs and tractor-trailers to see the motorcyclist.

Some of this is undoubtedly due to drivers being unwilling to take the time to pause and look; to exercise the caution required to be a safe motorist. Too many drivers, believing their errands are of the utmost importance, roll through stop signs or give cursory sideways glances before proceeding through intersections, even at highway intersections where vehicles are likely to be traveling at higher speeds.

Those higher speeds make the risks involved in running red lights or rolling through stop signs that much higher not only for motorists approaching the intersection, but also for the careless, hurried driver.

Please take the moment of time needed to be a cautious driver, as recommended by injury attorneys in Baton Rouge, LA. The price of careless driving is far too steep.  For the family law side of things, lawyers with brattonfamilylaw.com are very well versed.
